This resulted in CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes Association) issuing a non-cooperation directive against the actress (an advisory cautioning channels and producers against working with her). Despite Shilpa saying that she never signed a contract, the producers and CINTAA maintained that the actress had signed one with the channel, and that by considering other offers, she was breaching the terms and conditions of her contract. This incident brought alive the debate on exclusivity contracts and whether they hinder an actor's growth.
