"I played Nakusha who was a strong girl and didn't want to do projects just for the heck of it. I wanted someone to offer me something challenging which would force me to come out of my comfort zone and 'Balika Vadhu' was the show. I was very happy looking after my house, husband and my pets and was never in hurry to work. Jay also backed my decision. He told me to take up work when I was ready for it. We have always supported each other in our career choices. When he needed to focus on his career, I took a back seat and now when I am ready, he is equally supportive. It is very important in a relationship to have financial and emotional support. My life has always revolved around Jay. I was happy being a homemaker, it is a very difficult job. I am glad that I have successfully managed both," says Mahhi.


Like Jay is supportive of Mahhi's career, the actress, too, has no qualms about her husband doing intimate scenes in films. She said, "I see no problems if Jay does intimate scenes on the big screen. If top actresses can do it, why not my husband?"

Mahhi also denied rumours of feeling insecure about her husband romancing Sunny Leone on the big screen, "I think no one should ever feel insecure of Sunny. She is a great human being and a good friend. She is very committed to her husband. There can be insecurity with other actresses but definitely not with Sunny," said Mahhi.
