Shahid Kapoor to play Deepika's husband in Bhansali's 'Padmavati'?

You fell off your chair, didn't you? But before you jump the gun, we want you to settle down and relax. The news is reportedly as true as it gets, if all goes well that is! Well, rumour mills are abuzz that Shahid Kapoor has been approached by Sanjay Leela Bhansali to play the King of Chittor in his next magnum opus biopic, 'Padmavati', which will see Deepika Padukone in the titular role. However, the good news is that even if Shahid comes on board, which he is strongly considering, he will not replace Ranveer Singh, who will be seen as Allauddin Khilji in the film. Shahid has neither worked with Bhansali in the past, nor has he shared screen with Ranveer and Deepika. In fact, if he agrees to do the project, this will be his career's first period drama and a biopic at that. There is no doubt that the trio of Bhansali-Ranveer-Deepika have already set our expectations sky high, thanks to their recent track record, and if Shahid joins the team, it would be nothing short of a dream cast and one of the biggest casting coup that Bhansali would achieve. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that Shahid signs the script on the dotted line sooner than expected.
